Further to the update sent by our firm providing guidelines for employers during the Corona crisis, we are now making this further update available for your consideration:
Yesterday, the Minister of Employment, Welfare and Social Services signed a general, interim license for the employment of workers on overtime (Interim Order – Confronting the Corona Virus).
The license sanctions an increase in permitted overtime quota, whereby a worker can be employed for up 67 of weekly working hours (regular and overtime jointly, i.e. 42 regular working hours and 25 hours of overtime), provided that the monthly quota of overtime hours does not exceed 90 hours.
It was further determined that the length of a working day will not exceed 12 hours but that an employee can work 14 hours including overtime, not more than 8 times per month, and on condition that the such employment conforms with both the weekly quota restriction (67 hours) and the monthly quota restriction (up to 90 hours overtime per month).
The employment of workers under this license will be implemented in accordance with the individual requirements of their place of work and by taking the welfare of the workers at their place of work into consideration, as well as their requirements pursuant to the Coronavirus outbreak. However, no list of business sectors or employers who may operate under the provisions of the license has been given.
At this stage the license will be in effect until May 17, 2020.
