Firon Law Firm’s Real Estate, Infrastructure, and Project Finance Department has a unique practice in the area of municipal taxation that provides professional support to its clients by highly experienced lawyers.
The Municipal Taxation team deals with all the facets of the field, including representing taxpayers in the various courts (residents and administrations), before the Appeals Committee for Overall Municipal Tax Matters, the Appeals Committee for Sewage Affairs, and generally auditing municipal debts on the issue of municipal taxation, development fees, and levies, and betterment levies. The department’s team handles municipal taxation and fees in cases worth hundreds of millions of shekels each year, while savings add up annually to tens of millions of shekels for the firm’s clients. The team’s expertise is expressed in the many legal precedents set in cases by the firm.
Clients in this field include both public and private organizations in such areas as real estate, high-tech, commerce, and more.
The team’s involvement in all branches of municipal tax ties in well with the firm’s broad practice in administrative law. The lawyers in the various departments complement each other and facilitate an overall perspective for examining the obligations and powers of the relevant tax authority, to ensure the application of the authority’s obligation to behave equitably, reasonably, and consistently toward all, without external considerations.
This legal area has been significantly strengthened by Firon Law Firm’s merger with one of Israel’s best boutique law firms. Today, the boutique firm’s partners, led by Adv. Malka Engelsman, are considered trailblazers in municipal taxation and have become an integral, leading part of the firm.
