The Legal 500
David Hamou is a managing partner at Firon Law Firm and until the end of the year of 2023 he headed the litigation department of the firm.
In addition, Firon Law Firm launched a new international partnership with the French leading law firm UGGC. The partnership, FIRON-UGGC, providing international legal services and cross-border solutions to our clients in Israel, France, Morocco, Cameroon and the Ivory Coast. Mr. Hamou is leading the firm’s partnership operation in all the relevant branches, from Firon side.
Mr. Hamou embarked on his professional path in the firm as an intern in 1996. He was admitted to the bar in 1998 and in 2006, was promoted to partner. In 2007, at the age of 36, the magazine The Marker named Mr. Hamou as one of Israel’s most prominent and promising attorneys. Mr. Hamou, together with the litigation practice that he heads, is frequently well-ranked by both prestigious Israeli as well as international attorney ranking guides.
Mr. Hamou has many years’ experience in managing and representing the firm’s clients, who are some of the largest and best known publicly traded as well as privately held companies in the market as well as multinational corporations in complex, sensitive, and extensive disputes whose value have at times been estimated in the billions of dollars. This experience has been accrued over the course of thousands of court appearances at all levels throughout Israel, including arbitration and mediation, alongside preventive pre-litigation consultation designed to avoid potential lawsuits.
Mr. Hamou’s expertise is diverse and extensive and extends over all branches of commercial and civil litigation with an emphasis on derivative and economic lawsuits and corporate and real estate litigation. Additionally, over the years, Mr. Hamou has also gained a unique and proven reputation and expertise in complex contractor lawsuits relating to national construction and infrastructure projects including DFI, BOT, and PPP projects. Mr. Hamou’s varied and diverse clients include one of the largest banks in the world in a lawsuit filed against it in Israel for approximately NIS 30 billion; a holding company faced with a motion to certify a derivative action that alleged improper distribution of a dividend and a demand to disgorge the sum of approximately NIS 100 million; a holding company faced with a motion to certify a derivative action in connection with a corporate consolidation pursuant to the Anti-Concentration Law that alleged harm and improper benefit for the controlling shareholders and sought damages in the sum of approximately NIS 130 million; a variety of clients in complex shareholder actions, including based on oppression of minority shareholders, as well as separation lawsuits; various companies involved in a variety of different proceedings pending before the District Court Economic Division in those cases within the court’s subject matter jurisdiction; some of the largest infrastructures companies in Israel with regard to PFI and PPP project clients for sums estimated in the hundreds of millions of shekels; one of the largest construction companies in Israel in disputes with various clients – also in the scope of tens of millions of shekels per lawsuit, and more.
Mr. Hamou’s extensive experience, success, uncompromising service ethic, resolve, unique ability to analyze a case’s strengths and weaknesses and formulate a smart and effective strategy for it, and attention to detail, as well as the sound and useful advice that he regularly provides are well-known to the firm’s clients. All of this, coupled with the other qualities required of a leading litigator, have made Mr. Hamou, over the years, a solidly dominant character in the firm whose clients frequently request that he personally handle their legal affairs.
